The Djerdap National Park is located in the southwestern part of Europe, in the northeastern part of the Republic of Serbia, on the international border with Romania.
The total area of the National Park is 67,698 hectares, and the protection zone covers 193,968 hectares. The main natural phenomenon of this area is the magical Djerdap gorge through which flows the Danube River.
The park extends about 100 km of the left bank of the Danube from Golubac to Karuš near Kladovo and includes a narrow forested mountain mountain belt, 3-9 km wide - along the Danube, which rises above the Danube at an altitude of 50-900 meters above sea level. This area - the area of the Đerdap gorge National Park was declared in 1975.
A specific geometric development, a very favorable Djerdap climate, a complex structure of ravines, canyons and deep bays, make this area a unique European menzural tertiary flora, vegetation and rock.
Flora Djerdap is not only distinguished by its diversity and richness, but also by its distinctive chains of character. Over 1100 species of plants survive in the park. The diversity of habitats and communities has also been reflected on a fauna that, like a flora, has a landmark of relicity. In this area, you can meet a bear, a lynx, a wolf, a jackal, a scarlet, an owl of oats, a black genus, as well as many other species.
Very favorable living conditions were the reason for the constant presence of a man, as evidenced by many archaeological finds and cultural and historical monuments, such as Lepenski Vir settlement, archaeological sites like Djoke, Golubacki grad, remains of Trajan's Bridge, Trajan's table, Roman limes, various castles , to preserved examples of folk Serbian architecture.
