The Jovan Cvijić Memorial Museum is located in the family house of Jovan Cvijić, a great Serbian scientist and geographer. It is located on Kopitarevo gradina in Jelena Cetkovic Street No. 5 in Belgrade. The house was built in 1905 and since 1963 it is under the protection of the state (it has been declared a cultural monument). Unique in its interior decoration for which Dragutin Inkiostri Medenjak deserves, who is considered one of the pioneers of national decorative art. Cvijic, according to him, shared the enthusiasm of the then intelligentsia with the need to create a national style that would be based on the Balkan folklore elements. The house consists of an entrance hall, a lounge, a room of his wife Ljubica and a study room, while a courtyard has a garden.
Today, the house contains a legend of Jovan Cvijić with 1,476 objects, including manuscripts, correspondences, notebooks, photographs, geographical maps, atlases, books, art paintings, personal items, etc. Occasional lectures are organized in the museum occasionally. Dragutin Inkiostri painted the walls and ceilings in the technique "al seco", while the ornaments were inspired by the motifs of flora and fauna and the traditions of Dalmatia, Macedonia and Serbia. The same motifs are found on each individual piece of furniture in the house.
