Kopaonik is the largest mountain massif in Serbia, which extends from the north-west to the southeast, about 75 km in length, reaching in the middle part about 40 km wide. One of its parts is the protected zone called the National Park Kopaonik, where there are a number of protected natural entities, and on it is the largest ski center in Serbia.
Its highest peak is Pancic's top with 2017m on which there is a mausoleum of the famous Serbian naturalist named after whom the name of the army of Serbia is located. The whole massif was named after the great mineral wealth that has been exploited there since the Middle Ages, and in its wider area is a whole series of cultural and historical monuments from the period from the 12th to the 15th centuries. Thanks to the developed tourist center with modern hotels and accompanying facilities, Kopaonik is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Serbia.
