Tara National Park covers an area of 22,000 hectares in the highest part of the Tara Mountains and is located in the territory of the municipalities of Bajina Basta and Užice, in the western part of the Republic of Serbia.
On the surface of the limestone of the river such as Beli Rzav, Rača, Derventa, Bambino and Negro, they made deep gorges and canyons. In addition, there are sinkholes, caves and bays. In this way, refugees have been created in which the rich plant and animal world has been preserved to this day.
The great heterogeneity of the relief, the diversity of the geological substrate, the humid climate and the warm limestone habitats have led to the creation of numerous forest ecosystems of very complex composition with a large number of relict and endemic species that represent the true natural values and rarities.
