Fruška gora National Park is located in Vojvodina, Serbia, not far from Novi Sad. It was proclaimed in 1960. The highest peaks are Crveni cot (538 m), Orlovac (512 m) and the tourist center Iriški venac (490 m). It stretches along the right bank of the Danube, 80 meters long and 15 km wide. The creation of the mountain began in the Mesozoic, 90 million years ago; scientists call it "a mirror of the geological past" - on it were found 164 animal fossil species, about 123 million years old. Fruška gora is rich in forests of oak, hornbeam, beech, linden tree and other trees; with protected over 50 plant species.
There are also several archaeological sites (Neolithic, Copper, Bronze and Roman age), as well as the old Fruska Gora monasteries (total of 17), which were built from the end of the 15th to the 18th century, known for their specific architecture, rich treasures, libraries and frescoes. The center of the National Park's management is in Sremska Kamenica.
